Magic Kingdom Update: Cabanas Gone, New Coffee in Tomorrowland, Cosmic Ray’s Construction, President’s Refurb and More

A lot’s been going on at the Magic Kingdom since my last visit. A new Joffrey’s Coffee location is now open in Tomorrowland called “Joffrey’s Revive.” It’s located between Space Mountain and the Tomorrowland stage. There you can get many baked goods, coffees, and teas. Plus, this particular location offers a specialty drink named “Mission to S’mores.” It’s a latte topped with whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate sauce and graham cracker crumbs. The name is a homage to the old “Mission to Mars” attraction, later replaced with Alien Encounter and then Stitch’s Great Escape.

Disney’s private cabana rental experiment has come to an end, and all four cabanas are now removed from Tomorrowland. Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe is undergoing some construction. Work walls are up around half of the restaurant, facing the Fantasyland side. More outdoor seating is being added to this popular dining location. Currently there is only one entrance open and cast members are redirecting guests to the one open door.

The Hall of Presidents is currently closed for a show update and full refurbishment. It is scheduled to re-open by June 30, 2017, but that may change. There is also work going on on the roof for the show building. A new Annual Pass ticketing office has opened in the Heritage House in Liberty Square. Guests can upgrade their tickets or replaced lost passes at this location. The previous location for the office was in Tomorrowland, but it closed March 1st.

Also going on in the park, the Walt Disney Railroad is still closed, but should be opening by this weekend, or sometime in March. Minor work continues on the Main Street Train Station. A full scrim is covering the Emporium store on Main Street for a facade refurbishment, but the store is open while work continues. Facade work is also being done on “Sir Mickey’s” in Fantasyland. That store is also open during construction. Check out the video and photo update below for more details and stay tuned for more theme park updates coming soon!

Photo Update

Welcome to Magic Kingdom in March

Minor work still going on at the Main Street Train Station, including painting and lighting tweaks

The several-month long refurbishment for the railroad is coming to an end this month

The scrim that was up the last couple months is now down

View of the station from inside

There are signs are out front to let guests know the trains are not running

It’s nice that the upper level is still open at least

You can always get beautiful views from the upper level of the train station

Exterior work still going on at the Emporium

The scrim covers the entire facade, and has been there for a couple months now

The store has remained open during this construction

Two guest bypasses are under the scaffolding

The upper part of the scaffolding butts right up to the facade

All window displays are still accessible, including the Sorcerers window on the other side

Moving on to Tomorrowland

I’m still very much in love with the new Tomorrowland rocks color

Stitch’s Great Escape is still operating “seasonally”

So essentially it’s never open

A new Joffrey’s Coffee has opened up in Tomorrowland

It’s named Joffrey’s Revive

It’s located between Space Mountain and the Tomorrowland stage

The menu offers much of the same as other Joffrey’s, except for a few exclusive items

The main specialty drink is the Mission to S’mores, a nod to the old Mission to Mars attraction

It’s a delicious latte topped with whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate sauce and graham cracker crumbs

All of the private cabanas are now gone

Last month they reduced them from four to two, but now all have been removed

The park looks much cleaner without them here

Cool Ship snacks is back open after a brief refurbishment

Work walls up my last visit

Work walls are gone now

I’m still fascinated that the spaceship is a prop from the eighties’ film “Flight of the Navigator” painted red

There are work walls up around half of Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe

Additional outdoor seating is being added to this popular quick-service restaurant

Walls are mighty close to neighboring Mad Tea Party, not leaving much room to walk by, for now

Only one entrance is currently open at Cosmic Ray’s, forcing everyone to line up near Sonny Eclipse

There are many signs pointing guests to the one entrance

Other entrances are roped off and attendants are redirecting traffic

Moving on to Fantasyland, work is being done on part of Sir Mickey’s facade

Scrims and scaffolding are covering a good portion of the facade

The store is still open during this construction

Work continues on updating the concrete in Fantasyland, section by section

Moving on to Liberty Square

Work is going on on the roof of the Hall of Presidents show building

A closer view

This is the view from Sleepy Hollow Refreshments on the other side

The Hall of Presidents is still closed for complete refurbishment

It is expected to re-open June 30, 2017, but that could change so stay tuned

Just opened this month next door to the presidents, is the Passholder office

The sign formerly said “Heritage House”

Inside you can upgrade your pass to an annual pass or request replacement passes

The in-park passholder office was originally in Tomorrowland but moved here this month
