Famous Car References

You can find license plates hanging up in the queue near the mechanic station. Some are from cars that Dom has won in races. You can spot the license plate from Doc Brown’s time machine in Back to the Future. In the single rider line is Dom’s “trophy case,” filled with all the titles to the cars he’s won from street racing. If you look close enough you can spot some pretty famous vehicles, including the DeLorean time machine, signed over by Emmet Brown. There’s a title for the “Bandit” Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. And in the bottom corner is the title to Arthur Weasley’s flying Ford Anglia from the Harry Potter series.

Fast Franchise Cars

Brian’s Ford Escort and Dom’s Red Dodge Charger Daytona from Fast & Furious 6

The queue features original and recreations of many cars from the Fast franchise. You can spot Brian’s Ford Escort and Dom’s Red Dodge Charger Daytona from Fast & Furious 6, the Subaru Impreza from Fast & Furious 7, and Han’s Mazda RX-7 from Tokyo Drift. There’s also Dom’s classic black Dodge Charger parked in front of the attraction and another in the gift shop set up next to a photo op with a surprisingly real looking figure of Vin Diesel. The Off-Road version of the Charger found in the gift shop was specially outfitted to be used in the parachute scene from Furious 7. The car features a strengthened body as well as special hooks to hold the parachute.

Nods to Former Attractions

To make way for the new ride two attractions were closed at Universal Studios Florida: Disaster! A Major Motion Picture Starring You and Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Revue. Throughout the queue for Fast & Furious are several nods to the former tenants. In Dom’s Trophy Case you’ll see an Earthquake keychain, the original version of the ride before it was changed to Disaster!. At the mechanic’s station in the standby queue you’ll find a Disaster! crew member jacket draped over a chair. And there’s a Beetlejuice figure nearby, as well as a Beetlejuice sticker on a tool chest, and a portrait of Frankenstein, who was one of the characters featured in Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Review.

Electrical Boxes

Near the end of the queue, just before the load area, you can spot three electrical boxes. The first, which looks the oldest says EQ-06 1990 on it, which stands for Earthquake, June 1990, when the original attraction opened along with the Universal Studios Florida theme park. The second box is marked with D!-01 2008, for Disaster! which opened in January 2008. And the third, much newer looking box, is marked with FF-03 2018, which stands for Fast & Furious, March 2018 (although the ride was delayed a couple weeks and actually opened in April.) If you look closely you’ll notice that the first two boxes are switched to “off,” while the third for Fast & Furious, is in the “on” position.

Earthquake Train Station

One of the most subtle nods to the old ride is a sign behind the load platform. It reads: “District No. 18, Embarcadero.” Embarcadero is a district of San Francisco, where the new ride takes place, but it was also the subway stop for the disaster finale on Earthquake as well as the revamped Disaster! ride.

Child Swap Doughnut

At the ride’s child swap area are models of cars from the films as well as a toy racetrack for the kids to play with. One of the locations featured along the racetrack is a doughnut shop, specifically Voodoo Doughnut. They’re the company that only recently opened a new location in CityWalk at the Universal Orlando Resort.

Family

Of course family is an important theme throughout the franchise, and it is for the ride as well. This barbecue scene in the queue features a variety of different chairs, showing how the members of the crew may come from different walks of life, but they’re still family. There are seven beer bottles on the table: one for Dom, Letty, Mia, Hobbs, Roman, Tej, and Brian. One is knocked over so it appears that they poured one out for Paul Walker. There are other references to Paul Walker’s character, as well as the actor himself, throughout the attraction. The break room pre-show, also called the “family” room features photos of the Toretto crew, including Brian. The war room preshow also has a little nod with a road named Walker St. on the map.

That’s all for now! Are there any other hidden Easter Eggs I missed from the attraction? And have you had a chance to get Supercharged yet? What do you think of the new ride?
