Halloween Horror Nights 2020 Cancelled at Universal Orlando

Today Universal announced that this year’s Halloween Horror Nights event is officially cancelled, for both Orlando and in Hollywood. The event was originally planned for September 10th through November 1st in 2020. This would’ve been the event’s 30th anniversary for Orlando.

Refunds are available for anyone that had already purchased a ticket, although some are reporting that Universal is allowing them to keep their “Buy One Get One Free” tickets to use at next years event if they so choose. See the official statements from Universal Orlando and President Bill Davis below for more information.

Universal Parks put out a statement earlier today:

Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood have made the difficult decision to not hold Halloween Horror Nights events this year. Universal Orlando Resort will be focusing exclusively on operating its theme parks for daytime guests, using the enhanced health and safety procedures already in place. Universal Studios Hollywood continues to face ongoing business restrictions and uncertainty around its opening timeframe.

We know this decision will disappoint our fans and guests. We are disappointed, too. But we look forward to creating an amazing event in 2021.

Bill Davis, President & COO of the Universal Orlando Resort, also shared a personal letter with Team Members today. In it he thanked everyone for their hard work in setting up this year’s event so far. He also said: “We are truly fortunate to have Team Members put their blood, sweat, tears, and passion into Halloween Horror Nights, and I know how much our fans and Guests look forward to seeing it come alive. I have every confidence that our teams will adapt, and direct their energies towards making Halloween Horror Nights 2021 the ultimate homecoming of horror.”

If you have purchased a ticket for this year’s event and are looking for information on refunds, check out the official website here. The parks at Universal Orlando have not issued any changes in operation, and are scheduled to remain open at this time with their enhanced safety measures in place.
