Last week Universal Orlando officially announced the TODAY Cafe, opening later this year at Universal Studios Florida. The new cafe is replacing the Beverly Hills Boulangerie which closed back in January.

Themed as Studio 1A, where the TODAY Show broadcasts live, this new restaurant will offer fresh pastries, salads, sandwiches, and specialty coffees, including a unique blend made exclusively for the TODAY Cafe. And of course, in tribute to Kathie Lee and Hoda’s hour of the show, guests will also be able to order wine, along with beer on tap. You can check out some of the food offerings below, as well as a construction update for the new dining location.

The new restaurant is expected to open this Spring, but an official grand opening date has not yet been announced. You may remember that I had previously reported the name for this restaurant to be the “Today Show Cafe.” That was the name on the permits and used by the company initially, but I like their decision to shorten it to just TODAY Cafe.

Food & Drink Highlights

The new dining location promises stand-out seasonal dishes based on co-anchor Al Roker’s favorite recipes. Everyday options will include freshly baked pastries, salads, sandwiches, and locally roasted coffees. Guests will be able to dine-in at the seating booth inside or the area outside designed to look like the TODAY Plaza. You’ll also be able to grab items on-the-go. In case you were wondering, yes, Annual Passholders will still receive their regular food discounts at the new location.

The TODAY Cafe will offer a specialty coffee blend, made exclusively for the venue, featuring locally-roasted private label coffee. You’ll be able to sip handcrafted cappuccinos, espresso, lattes, iced coffee and more.

Construction Update

Since our last update, the whole building has been refinished and repainted, new windows are finally going up on the front and sides of the building, and it looks like they’re preparing for the main sign above the entrance to be installed.

Inside it is certainly starting to look just like the concept art. Even the air conditioning ducts look like they do in the concept art. We can see what looks to be hook ups for the main sign above the service counter and in the foreground new windows being installed.
