Disney Reveals New Look for Relocated Leave a Legacy at EPCOT

First announced at the D23 Expo in 2019, Walt Disney World has relocated the faces etched into metal tiles from their millennium celebration’s Leave a Legacy program.

Originally located on stones within the theme park’s entry courtyard, guests are once again able to find their Legacy etchings, on these newly created walls along a walkway just outside the park’s turnstiles.

While the Leave a Legacy offers great memories for those that participated in the program, the stones that were located in front of Spaceship Earth were often lambasted by longtime fans of the park. Disney is working to remodel the entry courtyard to something more reminiscent of the original area as seen for the park’s first nearly two decades—complete with a new version of the original prism fountain.

In a compromise for everyone, (and to stick to their contractual agreement with participants for the program,) the Leave a Legacy photos have been installed just outside the park’s gates. Disney is offering us our first glimpse of the newly designed walls showcasing all of the guest’s pictures.

The new Leave a Legacy walls feature the park’s new vibrant color palette, along with a modern deco design. There will be no wasted space in this new design, (unlike the unsold space on the old monolith-style Leave a Legacy stones.)

Guests can use their mobile device to scan a QR code at the new Leave a Legacy display, or go to epcottilefinder.com. This online tile finder helps guests search for their etched image among the others. Disney says guests are also be able to visit the EPCOT guest Relations team for assistance.

In my very first story on this website back in January 2017, I talked about how I hoped Disney would relocate the Leave a Legacy stones to somewhere else on property, and I am not only grateful that they finally have, but I think they did a fantastic job!
