Walt Disney World announced today plans to update the audio-animatronic figures on Frozen Ever After at EPCOT. The planned changes are expected to debut early next year.
Ten years after the attraction opened in 2016, these animatronics will see their faces updated to match the style seen in newer iterations of the ride, like at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Disney says that all of the Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff audio-animatronics will be upgraded throughout the EPCOT iteration of the ride.
Many of these figures were groundbreaking in the world of Audio-Animatronics – not just as part of the first Frozen attraction, but also as the first attraction to have all electric Audio-Animatronics figures, and the first to combine electric motors and 3D printing.
An exact date for these updates has not yet been revealed, with the company only stated that the changes will be made early next year. It is not clear if the attraction will need to be closed temporarily for the update.
Clawhauser Animatronic in New Zootopia Show
Walt Disney World also revealed a first look at the now confirmed, but long rumored, Clawhauser audio-animatronic for the soon-to-open Zootopia: Better Zoogether! 3D show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The story for the new “4D” show has many of the characters from both Zootopia films coming together for a watch party of a Zoogether Day livestream. And while the “Carrot-Vision” 3D will allow the characters on screen to come alive, only Gazelle’s number one fan and off-duty ZPD officer, Benjamin Clawhauser, will be present in the theater in person.
Clawhauser will be decked out from head to tail with glow necklaces, bracelets, and a glittery Gazelle tee shirt.
This larger-than-life fan wants nothing more than to be picked as the V.I.Z. (Very Important Zootopian – the lucky mammal who will get special access to the Zoogether Day performers). And when that doesn’t work out, he has to take matters into his own paws.
The Zootopia: Better Zoogether! show officially opens on November 7, 2025, set within the Tree of Life Theater.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
One final announcement regarding animatronics at Walt Disney World was made today, and it’s all about the retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller to now feature The Muppets.
As previously announced, the new preshow for the updated attraction will star Scooter, as he attempts to get Electric Mayhem ready for their big show across town. Scooter has now been confirmed to be represented as an audio-animatronic—marking “the first time Scooter has ever been imagined as an Audio-Animatronics figure.”
Scooter will be side by side with a team of penguin audio engineers at the mixing booth as well. And Disney hints that these will not be the only animatronics joining the attraction, but that we’ll have to wait for more information on that.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is set to open Summer 2026.
