Why I decided to visit the Magic Kingdom during Pro Bowl weekend, I do not know. While I was there I did happen to get photos of the many closures and refurbishments going on around the Kingdom. Thankfully we had FastPass+ and dining reservations already set for the day, or I’m not sure we would’ve been able to do much of anything. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was at a 210 minute wait while we were there, yikes!
The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for refurbishment since Januray 9th, and will remain closed until March 2, 2017. The Hall of Presidents is closed while they add in the new president and is scheduled to re-open June 29, 2017. Stitch’s Great Escape continues to operate on a seasonal basis and is not currently open at this time. Other minor work continues around the park including scrims up over the main entrance to the Emporium and work walls around the back section of Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland. Both are open during construction.

It was very busy Saturday, guessing having the Pro Bowl in town had something to do with it
After going through turnstiles we can see the front of Main Street Train Station is covered by a scrim
Inside the park the station is not covered at this time
Some un-decorated scrims are up left side of station
Closer view of work on train station
Signs are posted outside the station, scheduled to re-open March 2, 2017
While the trains are not running we are still able to go up to the upper platform
Also on Main Street, the Emporium facade is receiving some attention
Large scrims are covering the front of the Emporium, but it is still open
Side view from the street
Chip ‘n Dale passing by during the Move It! Shake It! Dance Party parade
Over in Liberty Square, The Hall of Presidents is closed for a show update
The show is scheduled to re-open June 29, 2017 with one new president installed
In Fantasyland the crane is back to take down Christmas lights from the castle
Looks like they’re more than halfway done removing the lights, but this is no easy task
Other train stations also have signs posted
Heading into Tomorrowland, work walls are up around part of Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
Outdoor seating is being added. The restaurant is open during this renovation, but restrooms inside are currently closed.
Walls are up only along the backside of Cosmic Rays, facing Fantasyland
Also in Tomorrowland, walls are up around Cool Ship snackbar
Also, bit of Disney trivia: Did you know the ship at the top of Cool Ship refreshments is actually one of the two prop ships used during the filming of the 1986 film Flight of the Navigator, but painted red and decorated?
The snack bar is not open during this refurbishment
Work walls are up in an area beside the Tomorrowland Stage
The stage is directly to the right of these walls
Frozone and Mr. Incredible getting down at the INCREDIBLES Super Dance Party
One last look at Cinderella’s Castle before we leave!
