The theater that was previously home to The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad stunt show in The Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure has been completely demolished, only leaving a section of foundation. It was reduced to rubble over a matter of days, as heavy machinery tore it down and carted the pieces away.
Fan-favorite “The Mystic Fountain” on the other hand is being dismantled in, what appears to be, a more careful manner. Let’s check in on the status of this quickly disappearing land using recent views from the air and on the ground.

Universal Orlando confirmed last month that The Lost Continent would close in phases to prepare the area for a new themed land in the future. Mythos is confirmed to remain open until 2027, but all other parts of the land are being removed one by one.
The first section to be demolished is on the side of the land closest to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade.
Here the former Sindbad theater has been quickly demolished.

Only sections of foundation remain, mostly along the front of the structure where guests would enter the theater.
A deep concrete pool from the stage area is also still apparent. This was used in the show, which featured a stunt performer falling into water while on fire.
Thanks to these incredible aerial views from Bioreconstruct on social media, as well as on YouTube, we can see how the theater has been removed, but the other area behind work walls, Poseidon’s Fury, still remains.
From the ground, machinery could be seen in recent days grabbing chunks of debris from the piles around the site of the former theater, loading it onto trucks for removal.

While the theater is completely gone and no longer visible from inside of the park, the arch entryway that used to lead to the courtyard in front of the theater remains.
In front of this intact archway, is where the Mystic Fountain sits, which is now behind work walls.
Fans have been speculating and hoping that the popular Mystic Fountain could be retained, and possibly relocated elsewhere on property.
The Mystic Fountain was interactive, and would talk with guests like a meet and greet, granting their wishes and occasionally splashing them with water.

Thanks to these new aerial views from Bioreconstruct we can see that the face of the former fountain has been removed, and the plumbing inside is being stripped out entirely.
The good news is, (if it can be considered good,) is that the face of the fountain seems to have been removed with care. In fact, the face can be seen sitting on the ground nearby.
Perhaps the face is being kept for posterity, and may not be seen again for some time as it is kept in storage?
Or, maybe the fountain will be rebuilt in a new location and its original face will be transplanted onto the new fountain’s front side. As Bioreconstruct says, maybe we are seeing a Ship of Theseus situation—where as long as some elements of the original remain, will it be the same fountain?
Only time will tell, as Universal isn’t saying much right now. They’re also not saying when this demolition project will be completed, what new property will be replacing The Lost Continent and when.
The leading theory among theme park fans is that the park could see a new Pokemon-themed land added, but so far that could merely be speculation.
For now, check out our recent vlog update, below, for more in-park views of the area, including how work walls have been expanded out in more places. And stay tuned to Park Stop for continuing coverage of this new project for Islands of Adventure.
