After holding Annual Passholder previews from Sunday, May 2nd through Wednesday, May 5th, the Jurassic World VelociCoaster has soft opened to all guests for the first time today.
The new roller coaster, located at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, is scheduled to officially open on June 10th, but guests are being allowed to enjoy the attraction early during this special unannounced preview.
Soft openings, or “technical rehearsals” as Universal calls them, allow team members to get used to operations before the official opening date, while also testing the ride itself under normal conditions.
Universal stresses that soft openings are not guaranteed, and that they could start and stop at any time. Certain effects or ride elements may not be operating during these previews as well.
The Jurassic World VelociCoaster is a thrilling new roller coaster that takes riders up to 70 miles per hour while reaching a maximum height of 155 feet. The ride features 2 high-speed coaster launches, intricate theming, and special effects to make it feel like you are riding through a raptor paddock with hungry velociraptors.
