IMPORTANT UPDATE 01/06/2022: Disney has announced that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will no longer be using Boarding Groups beginning on Monday, January 10, 2022. That means you will be allowed to wait in the regular standby line for the first time since the attraction opened. (You will still be able to purchase an individual Lightning Lane to bypass the wait.) Virtual Queue will not be offered. Original story as follows.
The newest ride at EPCOT in Walt Disney World, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, officially opened on October 1, 2021. So far though, the only way to experience this attraction is to obtain a virtual queue reservation through the official app.
This virtual queue reservation, which Disney calls a “Boarding Group,” can be obtained for you and your entire party at either 7:00 AM or 1:00 PM the day of your visit to EPCOT. Here is a step by step guide for making your Boarding Group reservation, as well as some tips to help get you the best chance of securing it. Updated: 01/06/2022
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT is located in an expansion to the France Pavilion of World Showcase. It’s a trackless dark ride that all ages can ride, (without a height limit,) and utilizes 3D screen media as well as practical sets and wacky motion to make it feel like you’re the size of a rat running through the French kitchen from the Disney/Pixar movie.
Currently, as of this writing, the only way to experience this attraction is to obtain a Boarding Group. These are the same virtual line passes that were originally in use for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but at this time that attraction has switched to a standby queue.
NOTE: Beginning October 19, 2021, there will be a second way to experience Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure when the Disney Genie and Lightning Lane services come online. You can learn more about this paid method of obtaining a reservation to ride this attraction in our Complete Guide to Lightning Lane.
How to Get a Boarding Group – Step by Step
Boarding Groups are distributed twice a day, first at 7:00 AM, and again at 1:00 PM. You can attempt to reserve the 7:00 AM distribution from anywhere, (at home/hotel/etc). The 1:00 PM distribution must be reserved from inside of EPCOT.
You can only obtain one Boarding Group reservation for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the same day. Also, all members of your party must have a valid Park Reservation for EPCOT to be eligible for a Boarding Group.
STEP 1: Open the official Walt Disney World app, named My Disney Experience, and navigate to the VIRTUAL QUEUE section on the main page. (Your theme park tickets and park reservations should already be connected for all members of your party.)
STEP 2: Up to one-hour prior to the next distribution time you can tap on the “Join Virtual Queue” button. (If more than one attraction is utilizing Virtual Queue you may need to select “EPCOT – Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” if given the option on the next page.)
STEP 3: Select all members of your party that you would like to include in your group. Everyone in your planning party with a Park Reservation for EPCOT should already be selected, so you may not need to adjust this.
STEP 4: As soon as it becomes 7:00 AM or 1:00 PM you must select the “REFRESH” button at bottom of the page, or pull down the page, to refresh the information. A “JOIN” button should appear in the place where the “REFRESH” button once was. Select that “JOIN” button immediately without hesitation.
Keep in mind that the 7:00 AM distribution usually goes incredibly quickly. You may have better luck at 1:00 PM, but remember you will need to be inside of the park for that one.
See the Helpful Tips section below for more information on how to successfully secure a Boarding Group.
What to Do After Getting a Boarding Group
Once you have successfully secured your Boarding Group reservation, the screen will give you an estimated return time. Keep an eye on this screen throughout the day as it will update and your estimated time may change. You can find it by selecting MY QUEUES from the main menu of the app at any time.
Once your group is called, the app will give you one hour to arrive at the attraction for your chance to ride. If you have push notifications enabled you will receive a notification when it is your time. If not, you will need to keep checking the app until your group is called.
You will still need to wait in a physical line at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure after arriving, so allow up to an hour for this in your day. (Usually the wait has been about 30 to 45 minutes once you arrive.)
Everyone in your party will need to scan their ticket or MagicBand at the entrance to be allowed into the attraction, so have them ready. All members of your party will need to have been on your Boarding Group reservation, and for the same reservation. If for any reason members of your group are not on the same reservation, you can see a Guest Service representative to combine your groups into one.
NOTE: If you must arrive after your arrival window has closed, you will still probably be able to ride. You should attempt to arrive within the one hour given after your group has been called, but Disney understands that due to other obligations, like dining reservations, you may not be able to arrive exactly on time.
If you feel you are going to be very late, I would suggest speaking with a Walt Disney World guest services representative, (blue shirt Cast Members under the blue umbrellas in the park, or at Guest Services in the front of the park) and they may be able to help you.
Helpful Tips for Getting a Boarding Group
TIP #1: The most important tip is that you can tap the “REFRESH” button on the join page over and over again as the next distribution time approaches. The button will refresh the page each time, and let you know what the system time is for the Walt Disney World clock. Once it reaches the hour, this button placement will switch over to a “JOIN” button, so just keep tapping the screen in the exact same spot and you will select “JOIN” as soon as it changes without hesitating, which may be the difference between getting a boarding group or not depending on how busy the park is that day.
TIP #2: Ensure you have decent internet coverage for where you are. If at home, be sure your WiFi is running well, or switch to data if not. In the park, I suggest using data, unless your network coverage is not great for this area. The theme park WiFi can be overloaded with guests and may cause a slight delay.
TIP #3: Only use one person in your party to reserve a Boarding Group. If multiple people attempt to reserve a Boarding Group for the same members of your party, all of you can be locked out and none will succeed.
TIP #4: Be sure everyone in your party is connected to your My Disney Experience account the day before, including their theme park tickets and park reservations. Everyone will need a park reservation for EPCOT for the day you want to ride, so ensure that is all set before the day of your visit.
TIP #5: Ensure you are logged into the app an hour before the next distribution time. I suggest closing the app entirely, and then reopening it. Make sure you see that are logged in at the top of the main screen. If not, log in ahead of time. If it is within one hour of the next distribution time (7AM or 1PM,) you can start the reservation process to ensure everyone in your party is connected and you’re app is ready. Do not close the app again until after distribution is complete.
TIP #6: Try for the morning distribution, even if you think you may not get a Boarding Group. While it may be easier to get a Boarding Group at 1PM on most days, there are also days when the ride does not run very well, and that will mean that much less will be released at 1PM, so it is always worth trying at 7AM first, in case there aren’t any available later.
TIP #7: All members of your party must have entered the park to be eligible for the 1PM distribution.

Thank you Alicia! Not sure if we’ll have luck getting on or not. I have an autistic son and seems like das can’t even help you access this ride. Maybe they’d let us in lightning lane entrance? No way he could wait in a one hour line safely. Thanks!!
