The iconic trident that had stood tall over the entrance to Poseidon’s Fury for 27 years in Islands of Adventure has fallen, as crews continue to demolish the land for a future addition.
Theme park photographer Bioreconstruct got the following aerial photographs today, spotlighting how this former icon of the area has not only been removed, but decimated.

Below is how the Trident appeared just a few days earlier at the site, behind work walls but still intact.

The hand holding the trident has also fallen along with the trident, seemingly crushed and shattered into thousands of pieces. The steel armature exposed from inside the structure.

Below are recent images showing the hand part of the structure up close, still intact just a few days earlier.

This work comes just days after the nearby Sindbad stunt show theater was completely demolished, leaving only a small section of foundation behind.

Now that the Sindbad theater is gone, work has moved onto the Poseidon’s Fury area, which apparently is beginning with the statue structures around the exterior courtyard.
The large trident appears to have crash landed like a chopped down tree after a lumberjack calls out “TIMBER!”
The nearby gift shop, named “Treasures of Poseidon” recently closed, likely in preparation of the demolition work to move to this side of the land. This gift shop can be seen in the top-right of the next photo, so it is very close to the recent demo work.
Looking closer, it appears that a section of the armature, the steel skeleton of the structure, has completely made its way out of the fallen statue, landing in the nearby water. Perhaps this was from inside of the hand portion, which was seemingly obliterated upon impact?
Below is a photo of the area from the ground, also taken by Bioreconstruct today. The sky is bare from not only the lack of large trident, but also the missing trees that used to line the left side of the Poseidon’s Fury attraction building.

Just a few days ago we reported on another flight above the area, where Bioreconstruct was able to get close up views of the face of the Mystic Fountain being preserved.
Despite the entire area being demolished, it seems as though the face of this former interactive fountain is being preserved at very least. The trident was not so lucky.
The trident was not the only thing demolished during the night prior to the park opening today, as the arch that was located behind the Mystic Fountain is missing from the skyline now as well.

Below is an aerial view of the aftermath of the arch’s demolition, with only a large pile of debris now remaining.
All of this demolition work is to help prepare The Lost Continent area for new offerings at the park at a later time. While Universal has confirmed the area is being prepared for a new themed land in the future, they have not said what it will be or when it will be ready.

Yesterday marked the closure of an outdoor quick service location for the land. Doc Sugrue’s Desert Kebab House was found behind work walls this week as demolition continues to push outward toward the guest pathway.
The Mythos restaurant is set to remain open through the end of this year, but it too will close permanently in 2027.

While Universal has not said what the former Lost Continent area will become once it’s gone, fans are theorizing it will be turned into a new Pokemon-themed area.
Former rumors for the land’s retheme included a Zelda concept taking over sections of the existing area, but with nearly everything being completely destroyed so far, it’s starting to look like whatever does replace The Lost Continent, may need to be built from the ground up.
That’s all for now, but a huge thank you to Bioreconstruct for not only sharing these incredible images seen above, but also for documenting such an incredible moment in time. We will always have these unbelievable photos of the fallen trident thanks to your amazing work.
