Universal Studios Florida Update: HHN Scare Zone Prep, Monsters Cafe Demolition & New Sahara Traders

With just a little over a month until Halloween Horror Nights kicks off on September 2nd, scare zone construction and other preparation for the event is in full swing at Universal Studios Florida.

Let’s check in on HHN prep, along with other construction projects around the park, in today’s photo and video update. See the video below for additional visuals.

The Hollywood area of the park has seen the arrival of the first scenic elements for Scare Zones for Halloween Horror Nights, themed as a cemetery.

Triggers and speakers have been installed inside of some of the scenic elements.

Trusses with lighting, stages, and speakers have been added to the Central Park scare zone area.

HHN lighting added near Transformers.

Trusses added in San Francisco area, plus ground work completed and work walls gone.

Work continues on pavement in New York area, and two streets are still blocked by work walls.

Here is what these areas look like from the air:

Work continues on partial exterior demolition of the former Monsters Cafe.

One final area of theming remains along the exterior walls.

The side of Monsters Cafe where the former Donkey and Shrek meet and greet was located has been completely cleaned of all themed elements.

No visible changes seen at former Shrek 4-D building.

Revenge of the Mummy has not yet reopened, although rumors say the reopening is close. The test seat was recently added back, now in its new location near the locker entrance.

The newly updated interior of the Mummy exit gift shop, Sahara Traders is nearly complete. The statue that was placed outside during the ride’s renovation has found a new home inside.

New themed details have been added, reinforcing the “Museum of Antiquities” theme, tying this retail location to the ride’s facade.

The last bit of theming work is being done along the ride’s exit ramp and new cash wrap area.
