First Official Piece of Concept Art Revealed for New Harry Potter Coaster

Thanks to a sneak peak tease on Pottermore today, we’re getting our first official piece of concept art for the new Harry Potter roller coaster being built at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. The new ride will be opening in 2019.

The art shows a section of ruins that we can see is currently under construction, set in front of the iconic Hogwarts castle. Pieces of coaster track weave around and there are Cornish Pixies pictured in the art as well. Perhaps that is one of the creatures we will see on this new attraction? The new roller coaster is being built on the former site of Dragon Challenge, in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Hogsmeade, inside of Universal’s Islands of Adventure. The ride is rumored to focus on Hagrid and the Care of Magical Creatures, and will feature several launched coaster elements, a backwards portion and a drop-track feature. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the theme park experience that opened at Universal Orlando in 2010, is soon to welcome a brand-new ride in the Hogsmeade section of the park.

Universal Orlando Resort Shares First Glimpse of New Coaster Experience Coming to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2019

The new coaster, which follows in the footsteps of the now-closed Dragon Challenge attraction, promises to immerse guests in an ‘all-new adventure’ in the ‘next instalment’ of the Wizarding World. Any guesses what it might be?

The ride is set to join other iconic Wizarding World attractions at Universal Orlando, such as Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.
