After accidentally posting information about this new live-action show last week and quickly taking it down, today Universal has officially announced the new show to replace Terminator 2: 3D, which closed two years ago.

The Bourne Stuntacular will be opening in Spring of next year, and will be based on Universal Pictures’ Bourne film franchise. The show will combine live action actors and stunts, with special effects and media, to create a new type of live show. Check out the official details for the show below, and check out our previous post for some of the rumored things we might see in the show!

You can find the following description from the official announcement:

The chase is on! In Spring 2020, The Bourne Stuntacular, an all-new live-action stunt show, will debut at Universal Studios Florida. Based on Universal Pictures’ blockbuster Bourne film franchise, this cutting-edge, edge-of-your-seat live show will blur the lines between stage and cinema in a hybrid form of entertainment that has never been seen before.

The Bourne Stuntacular will follow Jason Bourne around the globe as sinister characters pursue him. This action-packed show will feature thrilling chase scenes, punishing fistfights, death-defying leaps and danger at every turn.

And it will all happen right in front of you with live performers, interactive props and an immense LED screen – making it impossible to determine where the live-action ends and the screen begins.

You won’t just watch it – you’ll feel it.

The announcement comes on the same day as the premiere of the new USA show: “Treadstone,” which takes place in the same world as Jason Bourne. The new series takes place before the events of the Bourne films, and will act as a sort of prequel. The new live-action show at Universal Orlando is not expected to be tied to this new television series.

Quintessential Universal show. If this lives up to the description a modern stunt/cinema show using todays technology will raise the bar as Terminator did when it debuted.

Not sure Bourne is the greatest choice, wish they would have still used the beloved Terminator franchise but maybe there are rights issues.
